"I had no clue what today was going to be like, but it was excellent. The best bit was learning to be more respectful and actually use the actions of respect, even if it is to stop my way of ‘joking around’. Ben and Karen taught me to be respectful and think before I do; that things I say may hurt someone else, and that I can be more of myself in a better way. Today has made me feel more confident and stand up for myself and others."

SEED Boys' Workshops include:
Talking the Talk
Vincent Van Gogh said “If you hear a voice within you saying ‘you are not a painter’, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced”. Exploring what it means to 'be a man' alongside group conversation, boys will reflect on what is important to them, and unlock the power of positive self-talk.
The Best of Mates
Ask teen boys who their most important relationships are with, and for many it will be their friends. In this workshop we help them develop the skills to create and maintain healthy relationships with their friends and peers. Your boys will learn how to find and be a good friend, how to recognise and manage toxic relationships, and how to respectfully resolve conflict.
Assert Yourself
As young children, one of the first words we learn to say is 'NO'. Yet as we grow up, we sometimes find it difficult to assert ourselves, particularly when faced with peer pressure. Using a variety of scenarios, SEED Workshops teach boys how to get themselves out of some tricky situations minus the aggression, and to set and respect boundaries.
Gender Bender
We take a look at how our society defines and stereotypes us based on gender, and how sexism plays out in the media, politics and sometimes in the boys' own lives. SEED Workshops encourage boys to be respectful and aware of women's rights, including the plight of girls and women in less privileged parts of the world. Boys gain insight into how unhelpful gender roles are for all of us - female and male.
Respectful Relationships (Let's Talk About Sex)
Beyond ‘the birds and the bees’ lay sexual ethics. In this two-part workshop (age appropriate), we look at how to navigate romantic relationships with particular focus on consent. This workshop aims to empower young people, and to help them understand both the biological and emotional aspects of their sexuality. Using a sensitive approach, Part Two of this workshop explores the media’s handling of high profile cases of sexual violence against women, as we look at ways to reframe discussions around sexual assault, developing critical thinking skills to combat victim-blaming.
Stress Less
With unprecedented levels of anxiety and stress amongst young people today, never before has it been so important to help them recognise, understand, and manage stress. We promote positive mental health by providing a range of proven stress busting techniques for boys to use in their daily lives to increase well-being and facilitate better learning
outcomes.
Be Fine Online
Young people have fully embraced the internet, particularly social media sites, giving them 24/7 direct connect to their
friends and the outside world. But for some it's not all Like’s and smiley emoticons. For too many young people, these sites can quickly become tools for bullying and harassment, at times leading to serious consequences. SEED Workshops provide valuable information about online risks, and give boys the tools to engage in safe and positive online interactions.
Media Wise
Mental health issues around body image are on the rise and the number of boys suffering body image anxiety has doubled each year for the past five years, contributed to by relentless media messaging and social media. According to The Australian National Survey, body image is the number one issue facing many teen boys today, with some turning to supplements and drugs/steroids. In this workshop we look at the media’s influence in people's lives, including how it often presents a narrow, unobtainable ideal for boys and men. We uncover the tricks of the trade, and empower boys to see and embrace their own style - inside and out.
Environmental Awareness
Issues such as climate change and environmental stability are of increasing concern to young people. SEED Workshops encourage boys to think about their environmental footprint, and to understand that the seeds they plant today, create the shade and shelter of tomorrow. We teach boys to be discerning consumers, using their purchasing power for a brighter, healthier future.
Healthy Mind, Healthy Body
To deal with increased pressure to conform to narrow masculinity ideals, more boys are engaging in disordered eating , binge-drinking and substance abuse than ever before. Our boys need some guidance in healthy, safe ways to look after their bodies and to help them thrive. In this workshop developed especially for teen boys by SEED Workshops' nutrition consultants, we help boys understand the importance of a holistic approach to good health through realistic goal setting, healthy eating and moderate exercise.
* Our program is individually tailored to suit your school’s timetable, and is most effective when delivered as a full-day event of five to six workshops. As well as our full-day program, we also offer a 2hr 'Respectful Relationships' session.
We look forward to working with you!
