Respectful Relationships
We begin by exploring gender stereotypes and look at the pervasive influence of sexism in the media, politics and sometimes in our own lives. SEED Workshops encourages students to be aware of their rights and those of others, including the plight of those in less privileged parts of the world, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to equality.
In an age-appropriate manner, we focus on the emotional aspects of romantic relationships, with particular emphasis on understanding consent. We also explore the media’s handling of high-profile sexual violence cases against women, fostering critical thinking skills as we look at ways to reframe discussions around sexual assault to combat victim-blaming and reduce violence and abuse in relationships.

What students are saying about our Respectful Relationships workshop:
I thought today would be boring and pointless, but this respectful relationships workshop was excellent. The best part was when we analysed how differently the genders are judged by what they do, say or wear. Today I learnt how to recognise abusive relationships, about feminism, and stereotypes. It was great.
Melanie, Year 10
I really enjoyed hearing the stories, because you can relate to it in real life. I learnt to not be the creepy guy. I thought it was going to be boring, but it turned out to be very good.
Kevin, Year 9
The best thing about today was the relationship advice. It really helps students to realise what’s okay and what’s not okay in a relationship. I learnt how to not feel pressured by the media, and that girls can be strong. Thank you so much for today. I thought it would be something embarrassing or boring, but it wasn’t! I hope you will come back sometime!
Junrou, Year 10
Respectful Relationships really helped. I enjoyed learning about equality, respectful relationships and dating tips. It was excellent.
Jayden, Year 9
This Respectful Relationships program was my favourite as people today jump into things without thinking about it. I’m glad the boys were hearing it too. I learnt how to have a good relationship, about sexism, and that we should fight for our rights. The presenter was amazing and funny, and I’d love to see her talk again.
Paige Yr10
My favourite part was watching the role-plays because they were funny. I learnt things about movies, video games, that girls get paid less, girls don’t get appreciated, and that men need to have certain things to ‘be a man’. I thought it would be alright today but it was excellent!
Frank, Year 9
I enjoyed the whole thing because it was interesting and informative. I learnt about healthy/unhealthy relationships, gender stereotypes, feminism, and how to recognise an abusive relationship. It was all excellent! Don’t change anything!
Rafaela, Year 10
What teachers are saying:
"Thank you so much for your presentation last Tuesday. When I was scrolling through workshops to run with our students, this was EXACTLY what I had in mind; something which would be engaging and really raise awareness about core issues that are relevant to our students. Not only did your presentation promote discussion amongst students, but it also allowed for rich discussion between teachers and students and between staff members. I would highly recommend your brand of workshop – using humour and historical facts to debunk stereotypes and stigma surrounding certain issues. Thanks again for a wonderful experience."

"I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks for the exceptional workshop you and your team delivered yesterday. The insights you provided on masculinity and relationships were incredibly pertinent to our Year 9 boys. Your presentation resonated deeply with them and addressed important topics that are crucial at this stage in their lives.
I was particularly impressed with how you engaged with the students. Your approach created a welcoming and supportive environment in the classroom, which allowed the boys to express their thoughts and feelings openly.
The feedback from the students has been positive. They appreciated not only the content of the workshop but also the respectful and empathetic way in which you interacted with them. It’s clear that your efforts made a significant impact and contributed positively to their understanding of these important issues.
Once again, thank you for your dedication and the positive influence you have had on our students. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you again in the future."
