SEED Workshops include:
Talking the Talk
Vincent Van Gogh said “If you hear a voice within you saying ‘you are not a painter’, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced”. Using art therapy to create a take-home keepsake (materials provided by SEED Workshops) alongside group conversation, students will discover the power of positive self-talk and reflect on what is important to them.
The Best of Friends
Ask teen girls who their most important relationships are with, and for many it will be their friends. In this workshop we help
them develop the skills to create and maintain respectful relationships with their friends and peers. Students will learn how to find and be a good friend, how to recognise and manage toxic relationships, and how to respectfully resolve conflict. Incorporating affirmative expression, this workshop is guaranteed to strike a chord with all!
Assert Yourself
As young children, one of the first words we learn to say is 'NO'. Yet as we grow up, we sometimes find it difficult to assert ourselves. Using a variety of scenarios, SEED Workshops teach students how to get themselves out of some tricky situations. With lots of hints and tips and some simple and effective self-defence techniques, they will be armed with the tools to set their boundaries and protect their personal space.
Stress Less
With unprecedented levels of anxiety and stress amongst young people today, never before has it been so important to help them recognise, understand and manage stress. We promote positive mental health by providing a range of proven stress busting techniques for students to use in their daily lives to increase well-being and facilitate better learning outcomes.
Be Fine Online
With social media sites giving young people 24/7 direct access to their friends and the outside world, for some it's not all thumbs up and love reacts. For too many young people, these sites can quickly become tools for bullying and harassment, at times leading to serious consequences. SEED Workshops provides valuable information about online risks and pitfalls, giving students the tools to engage in safe and positive online experiences.
Media Wise
With body-image anxiety and disordered eating at record highs amongst young people, this workshop unpacks the advertising and social media's influence in people's lives, including the prevalence of narrow, unobtainable beauty ideals. We uncover the many tricks of the trade and empower students to see and embrace their own beauty and style - inside and out.
Gender Bender
We take a look at how our society defines us based on gender, and how sexism plays out in the media, politics and sometimes in our own lives. SEED Workshops encourages students to be aware of their own rights and those of others, including the plight of those in less privileged parts of the world.
Respectful Relationships
Beyond ‘the birds and the bees’ lay sexual ethics. In this two-part workshop (age appropriate) we look at romantic relationships with particular focus on consent. This workshop aims to empower young people and help them navigate the emotional aspects of relationships. Taking a sensitive approach, in Part Two of this workshop we explore the media’s handling of high-profile cases of sexual violence against women, as we look at ways to reframe discussions around sexual assault, developing critical thinking skills to combat victim-blaming.
Environmental Awareness
Issues such as climate change and environmental stability are among the top concerns of young people. SEED Workshops encourages students to think about their environmental footprint, and to understand that the seeds they plant today, create the shade and shelter of tomorrow. We teach students to be discerning consumers, using their purchasing power for a brighter, healthier future.
Healthy Mind, Healthy Body
Despite health experts confirming that fad dieting programs don’t work long term and may be harmful, research shows that one in three girls are dieting at any given time. Others are engaging in emotive eating , binge-drinking and substance abuse. Our girls need some guidance in healthy, safe ways to look after their bodies and to help them thrive. In this workshop developed especially for teen girls by SEED Workshop’s nutrition consultants, we help girls understand the importance of a holistic approach to good health through realistic goal setting, healthy eating and moderate exercise.
* Our program is individually tailored to suit your school’s timetable, and is most effective when delivered as a full-day
event of five to six workshops. We also offer a 2hr 'Respectful Relationships' session. We look forward to working with you and your students!

What girls say about SEED Workshops:
'I thought we were going to be in for a boring lecture today, but it wasn’t like that at all! It was so much fun, and I learnt so many new things about myself and my friends. Thanks for teaching me how to be a good friend, to respectfully resolve conflict, how to relax, to reject toxic messages in the media and advertising, and to love myself. This was the best day ever.’
Greta | Year 9 ‘I expected today to just be boring and annoying, but I ended up loving everything about it! You taught me to feel good about my body, how to be assertive, about the messages in the media, and how to have better relationships with everyone. I feel stronger after today. Thank you. It was awesome and lots of fun!’ Jacinta | Yr 10 More feedback here. |
